The Della Falls are majestic falls on Vancouver Island, located in the pristine Strathcona Provincial Park. The Della Falls are considered by most to be the tallest falls in Canada. Indeed, at a whooping 440m, those are the falls with the highest vertical drop. Though this claim is contested by some people.
The only way to access the falls is through a 30-minute boat ride across Great Central Lake, and then a further 10 Km hike through the dense forest of the park. Being home to the tallest falls in Canada, this area of the park is also well irrigated by a vast network of rivers and smaller falls, which, in turn, nourishes a dense and lush forest.
We went during the highest peak of the summer season, but in spite of the temperature, the ever presence of fresh water and shaded forest paths made this hike among the most enjoyable. See for yourself.
